Poodles have become one of the top breeds of choice to create many sought-after hybrid dogs. A breed that is made from breeding another type of dog with a poodle will often be called a doodle, with the other breed's name in the mix. For example, a golden retriever mixed with a poodle is a goldendoodle and a Labrador retriever mixed with a poodle is a Labradoodle. Poodles are non-shedding dogs
A big reason why poodles are used so often when breeding a hybrid litter is that poodles are considered to be non-shedding dogs. This is also a fact that helps to make them hypoallergenic dogs, which allows them to be owned by someone who is allergic to dogs. Because they do not shed, the poodle often will not trigger allergy symptoms for people with pet allergies. Poodles come in two sizes
While the exact size of a poodle can vary a few inches or pounds from one dog to the other, there are two distinct sizes of poodles. There is the standard poodle, which is considered to be a medium to large breed, and the toy poodle, which is considered a small breed. This means that small and large-breed dogs can be bred with a poodle to get the desired size.
Poodles have many likable personality traits
Another reason why poodles are used to create hybrid dogs is due to the personality traits they often pass on to the litter. Poodles are loyal to their families and they also tend to be protective of them. However, they can also be very friendly dogs to people who they learn are accepted by their families. They like to play and have plenty of energy to do so, but they also know when to keep calm and will happily lie at their owners' feet or cuddle up on their owners' laps.
